Happy Birthday Ellis, and Welcome Back, Oliver! Cambridgeshire Baby Cake Smash Photographer14/7/2018 The thing I love most about my job, is watching families grow. From bumps to babies, and one baby to more, it's so lovely to see how much life can change - and how fast these babies grow up! It's an honour to be chosen as your photographer, and it's an even better feeling when my clients return with their next baby! I first met Ellis' family before he ever was. His big brother Oliver was turning one, and he came to me for his cake smash session back in 2016, and was a total character! This time Oliver brought his baby brother, Ellis, all the way from Essex (!!!) to me for his cake smash and my goodness he rocked it! We started with some sibling pictures before we broke out the balloons and cake. Ellis loved his cake so much he decided the fastest way to eat it was not to use his hands, but to face plant his birthday cake instead! Yum! Once a large portion of the cake had been consumed (and smeared eeeeeverywhere!) it was splash time in the bath tub... except Ellis wasn't finished! Most babies love splashing in my tub, watching the bubbles flying everywhere... but Ellis was busy reaching and picking up all the crumbs left over and munching them while he had a leisurely soak! I can't resist a squishy baby bum (I mean, who can?) so once we'd got Elliot dried up, we risked a few shots nappy free to make the most of all of his rolls and dimples. How cute??
It was such a lovely session full of giggles! Happy first birthday, Ellis! Goodness me the years do fly by when you're having fun! Deciding to start this venture wasn't a big 'Oh my goodness I need to follow my calling in life', it was more about sharing my passion, and never once did I think I'd be celebrating my second studio anniversary six years on! In my time running this little business I have photographed hundreds of babies, children and families - and a handful of weddings too! It's also given me the opportunity to volunteer for Remember My Baby, gifting my time and talent for those who have lost their babies. I've also met a lot of inspiring people and made some lifelong friends in the business. I still see a lot of 'my cherubs babies' (they're all my babies if they've been in front of my camera!) on school runs and out and about and it's such a joy to see them and their families grow. I really am honoured to be doing what I do! Over the next week I will be celebrating with some super deals and releasing some limited time mini sessions, so keep an eye out on my Facebook page here for those. Here's a few of my favourite images from this last year (I couldn't add all of my favourites as this would be a very long blog post!). I've met lots of mums to be for their bump shoots, teeny tiny newborns, squishy babies, little ones celebrating their first birthday's with cake smash sessions and so many lovely families! Book your session in today, all the information you need on each session is under 'Session Prices' at the top! Emma Oh boy, I love planning newborn sessions, helping parents pick colours, props, discussing their tastes and any wall art they may have at home; but when Thea's mummy booked in her session, I SQUEALED! Anyone who knows me personally, knows I am a crazy Harry Potter fangirl! And luckily for me, so is Thea's mummy (daddy not so much, but he was a good sport and let us squeal during the session at the absolute cuteness!). And number one on her list were some themed shots - I was in my element! In preparation I collected as many related props as I could get my hands on, including the most adorable little witches hat and house scarf, handmade just for this session. On the day of the session I think I actually skipped to the studio I was that excited, and I hoped baby Thea would be nicely settled as I had a lot planned! And she was amazing! We started with the themed photos first, as she was really sleepy and content... ^ This image won 2nd place in the BANPAS showcase, and has pride of place as a framed canvas print sample on my wall in the studio - everyone comments on it when they see it! We did a couple of set ups for the themed images, then moved on to the rest of the session (rather reluctantly haha!) where it was all about the girly colours! I like to get mummies and daddies included in the session, it's lovely to have the option of purchasing family pictures, and so important for children to see family photographs in their home! And little Thea will see their first family portrait as she grows up, a memory to last forever. Of course, one of the reasons clients choose me, is for the magic I can work on their images, not only shown in the first image, but in the next, which is a digital composite (two or more images merged together, in this case, a digital backdrop with baby placed in). I can't guarantee every session will have one, but I do try to incorporate them where possible! I am working on a video for my blog, showing how I created the magic in the Harry Potter themed image, with some before/after examples of others too!
In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed your peek into one of the most anticipated shoots I've ever done! What theme would you choose? Emma |
