A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of photographing Carla for the third time. This time it was for her first birthday cake smash session. We decided on a rainbow theme for the smash - I was so happy as I'd wanted to do a rainbow cake smash since forever! (I LOVE rainbows!) My cake smashes involve a little portrait session before everything gets a bit messy, and Carla came with a couple of gorgeous outfits for these photos!
Some babies don't like the cake, there is always the 'What if they don't eat it?' moment at the beginning of the cake smash. We needn't have worried with Carla, she's a girl after my own heart and loved her cake! And of course it's not a cake smash session without a splash session to end (and save on baby wipes!!). Carla had so much fun and even bent right forward, put her face in the water and tried to eat the bubbles!! If your baby is turning one (or two or three - or maybe even you are about to have a milestone birthday - who says babies can get all the fun?!) then please do get in touch to book your cake smash session today!

Imagine my joy when Reuben's mum contacted me and asked to do his first year photos, and a cake smash! At least this time I knew I didn't have to get him to sleep!
I start my cake smash sessions with a portrait session to get the little ones relaxed in the studio. Reuben loved the big fluffy rug! Big brother Wilbur was persuaded in front of the camera (with help from a little packet of biscuits I keep handy in the studio!) and it was clear how much he loved his baby brother! Emily is a regular in front of my camera, and this was her third session with me. I love regular clients, it's like having friends back as you get to know them over time, and watching the babies grow really is a wonderful part of my job!
Emily and her mum came a few days after her first birthday for her cake smash session, and she was SO good! She barely moved for the whole session, I expected to have to clean cake off every surface in the room. Cake smash sessions include portraits to begin with (before they get messy!), then it's time for cake smashing before finishing off with a splash in the tub. It's great fun and a perfect way to celebrate your baby turning one! |
