Ten Essentials To Pack In Your Hospital Bag - Peterborough & March Newborn Baby Photographer5/3/2017 One of the many tasks to tick off your pre-baby checklist is The Hospital Bag. For those who aren't aware of what this is, it's your (and don't forget one for baby - I'll cover that another time) overnight bag (pack for a few nights just in case) for when you go into hospital to have your baby.
So what should you pack in your bag? It's easy to forget things as you pack, you will remember things like clothes for you and baby, but what about the rest? I asked some new mums for their 'must have' hospital bag essentials:
Do you have any other must have items to pack in your hospital bag? Please let me know in the comments! Emma :) George and his family came to my studio in March from their home in Yaxley, Peterborough for their newborn session. George was a super easy baby to work with, goodness if only all newborns were so easy! We were lucky enough to get two backdrop changes, an outfit, plus family portraits done - even more lucky was that I managed to capture a couple of images of George with his two year old big sister! I got to use some of my favourite hats and wraps in this session; I adore blue so when I have a boy in the studio I get everything out and hope that mum chooses my favourites! George in one of my favourite poses and sets, doesn't he just look adorable? There's no need to worry if baby wakes up; it's nice to capture some awake shots alongside the curled up sleepy ones, and the wrap helps keep baby feeling safe and content. I think this is my favourite from George's session, he had decided he was not going to go back to sleep (even after a big feed!) but still posed like a pro in my cute teddy hat! It wasn't until we had finished the session and the family were about to leave that mum spotted my moon prop, and asked if there was any chance we could get a photo using it. George had had enough by this point, so I set up the moon by itself, photographed it empty, and promised mum I'd try some photoshop magic to see what I could come up with! After some time, fiddling and patience, I managed to create this image; What do we think? Mum and dad loved it!
That's all for now, I hope you enjoyed looking through the highlights of George's newborn session! Emma Goodness me what a year it has been! (And I'm not just talking about the number of celebrities who have sadly left us!) Little Cherubs Photography started the year with a move back to being home studio based (yay for no commute!) but soon the practicalities of running a home studio became impossible and the search for the perfect studio space began! Little Cherubs Photography moved into its new home in May, and opened its doors in June. The studio has given me so much freedom to go wild, increase the prop stash (not that I needed much encouragement there!), get some product samples in (everyone adores the acrylic panel, including myself!) and I now get the joy of watching clients' faces light up as they see their images for the first time in my viewing room. In January I attended a newborn photography workshop; I think it's important to keep training up to date, and newborn safety is not something I take lightly. I'm proud to say I am a trained newborn specialist and that your tiny delicate babies are safe in my hands. I've continued to support charities throughout the year; namely Little Treasures Charity and Remember My Baby, and will do so through 2017, no doubt adding to my list! I've met many brand new families as they brought their precious babies in for their newborn sessions, I've seen babies on their first birthdays as they smash the living daylights out of their birthday cake during cake smashes, families have returned for their milestone sessions, or with their latest addition. I've met some truly lovely people - my clients are the BEST! I honestly cannot say how humbled I am that you chose me to photograph your most important moments. I really do have the best job in the world. Here are a few faces from this years sessions, can you spot yours? I still have one last session before the year is out, but I want to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to everyone who has either used my services or supported me in some way - without you all, this wouldn't have been possible.
I look forward to seeing old faces again and meeting new ones in 2017! I'm already planning the sessions booked in the diary so far, and can't wait to get stuck in! Be happy & safe and I'll see you soon xx |
